Sulmona - another beautiful Italian town

Left San Gimignano at 8.30am for our drive to Sulmona where we are overnighting on our way to the Adriatic coast. Very smooth drive on the autostrada and arrived in 4 hours. Fantastic roads and tunnels. Hardly any traffic being Dominica or Sunday, very different from our previous drive on the A1.

Staying in a very flash B & B called Sei Stella that overlooks the piazza. It also has part of the Roman aquaduct that we see outside in the piazza built into it.

Unpacked then went for a walk, 29 degrees outside but pleasant breeze. Visited two more exquisite churches and walked along the garden promenade.

Sulmona is famous for its confetti or flavored and coloured confectionary. A traditional sweet for Italian weddings.  Some amazing flower displays and yes they are all edible!

Out for dinner tonight at a ristorante recommended by Davide our very generous and welcoming host.
